I just finsihed it around 6:30am today, and it took me nearly thirty minutes to print. (Yes my printer is shitty, anyone wanna donate a new one? >( ) I'm sick, and tired, and I think I should go to bed now! :: pats herself on the back :: This is the second story of my own that I have EVER finished since I was 12 years old.
We're moving again! Same apartment complex, two bedroom apartment! It's a little exciting, a little stressful, and there is always tension that runs high. We're getting David as a room mate and he'll finally have his own bedroom rather than living on our couch. xD We might get to start moving things over Friday if not we have to do it over Saturday/Sunday. It's going to be one big holy mess! Good thing is we never fully unpacked from the time we moved into this apartment, so most everything is still packed away in boxes in the closet. :D

That being said, wish me luck! It's time to get back to packing and doing laundry! -.-

The 6 is helpful and ever conscientious, making you quite capable of rectifying and balancing any sort of inharmonious situation. You are a person very much inclined to give help and comfort to those in need. You have a natural penchant for working with the old, the young, the sick, or the underprivileged. Although you may have considerable creative and artistic talents, the chances are that you will devote yourself to an occupation that shows concern for the betterment of the community.

The positive side of the number 6 suggests that you are very loving, friendly, and appreciative of others. You have a depth of understanding that produces much sympathetic, kindness, and generosity. The qualities of the 6 make the finest and most concerned parent and one often deeply involved in domestic activities. Openness and honesty is apparent in your approach to all relationships.

If there is an excess of the number 6 in your makeup, you may exhibit some of the negative traits associated with this number. There may be a tendency for you to be too exacting and demanding of yourself. In this regard, you may at times sacrifice yourself (or your loved ones) for the welfare of others. In some cases, the over zealous 6 has difficulty distinguishing helping from interfering. You may have difficulty expressing your own individuality, because of involvement with responsibilities and causes. Like all with the Expression of the number 6, it's quite likely that you worry much too much.

Your Soul Urge number is: 11

A Soul Urge number of 11 means:
With the 11 Soul Urge, much of your thinking and interests relate to the abstract, the spiritual, and utopian dreams. You are motivated toward idealistic concepts, and the sharing of your ideas and concepts with humanity. This number is not one that is giving in a material or a practical sense, but rather one who desires to help mankind with a more abstract commodity such as religion, spiritualism, occult studies, or even psychic abilities.

If you possess the positive 11 Soul Urge traits, you have a dream of the perfect world; you are highly idealistic and inspirational. Your inner strength and devotion to your beliefs are extremely strong. You have a very good mind that is especially well equipped to handle the higher, more abstract forms of thought.

If there is an excess of 11 energy in your makeup, you may possess some the negative 11 traits. There is a tendency for the 11 to produce considerable amounts of nervous tension which is bought on by a very high level of awareness. You may be too sensitive and overly emotional. In some cases, these sensitivities and emotions are quite repressed, and this tends to add even more to the sense of nervousness in the makeup.

The strong 11 is not a very practical person because of the extreme idealism; often, there is a degree of self-deception present. There is usually a rather fixed idea of right and wrong held by those showing strong 11 traits, and with this very often is a resulting attitude of inflexibility.

Your Inner Dream number is: 4

An Inner Dream number of 4 means:
You dream of being a very solid citizen that people can depend upon. You strive for organization and predictable order. You want to be recognized as a person with a plan and the discipline to make that plan work like clockwork.

I've found out that one of my bestest buddies on MSN is quite and enjoyable RP partner! It gives me something to look forward to when I come home from work, instead of WoW. I was SO hoping to get back into RPing as soon as possible, before I lost my will to do it all together. It's my way of keeping my mind awake and running with ideas for new stories. I'm still waiting for the right one. When I can finally write a book and get it published! I wonder how many of my shady relatives would appear once they found out I made millions off a book? xD I could see my mother sniffing around the gate of my HUGE home whimpering for scraps, while my step-mom, dad, and siblings all had huge houses of their own. Haha, I hate that damn woman and she knows it, but can't blame her for trying to pity her way back into my life xD

I've not had a decent RP in a few months and all this creativity is just cooped up in my brain with no place to go. I've have been however, editing my original story in my head little by little, finding more things to add and/or take away. I had at one point started a second half of the short story and I'm thinking about picking that back up. Though I have no idea where I was going with it...so I'll have to make up something. It was after Miko's death so...come up with something Miko! I know you're online right now, I can seeeeeeeee you! <lj:music>I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight ~ Reo Speedwagon</lj:music>

This year was a lot better than most of the years spent at home and I couldn't ask for anything better. Mike got me the entire season of Elfen Lied and the first season of Rurouni Kenshin which I love. While I bought him the last three seasons of Angel and Need For Speed Carbon for the Wii.

Speaking of Wii, I hate the system. ^.^ Though watching him play Rayman Raving Rabbits is by far entertaining. And the new Zelda is awesome in every aspect. Maybe it's just me and I'm to stupid to grasp the concept, but it's nothing more than a way for a gaming system to get fat children up off the couch and do something other than sit there and press buttons, but to me that's what gaming is all about. If I want to fish, I'll go buy a pole and fish. Same goes for bowling and baseball. But that's just lazy ol' me talking I guess.

I hope that everyone got what they wanted this year and that your new years goals go over well. Mine will be to tone down on my aggression towards the people at my job, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Everyone, have a good day, and life if I never talk to you again. God only knows when I'll update this thing again.

Miko, wherever you are, have a Merry Christmas.

As he traveled through the city, many of the other villagers waved politely, some even bowing their heads. Since Agen had came to their town, he had managed to help everyone in some way, no matter how small. Many of the young girls in the town even seemed to take to following him around during his errands. Whenever Serem had the chance, she would chase them off threatening to hit them for trying to “steal” Agen from her. Of course, she only thought of him as a younger brother, but it made for a good laugh now and again.
“Here you are Agen. That should keep Serem happy for a few days!” the grocer laughed, handing Agen a large pack, filled with food.
“You know Serem, she has to have everything possible to cook with, to cook nothing!” Agen laughed heaving the pack over his shoulder.
The grocer’s eyes fell to Agen’s chest, a sad look crossing his face. Agen hadn’t wore his armor since coming to Heine. Which made the bandaging for his wound quite visible beneath his cloth shirt.
“Are you sure you should be carrying all that on that shoulder Agen? It’s only been a few weeks…” he sighed.
“Yeah, Serem and Karin took good care of me. I’m well enough to swing a weapon. I think I can carry the groceries,” Agen chuckled.
“You take care of yourself Agen. You’re too nice a person to die in this war.”
“That war wont even make it here, we’ll be ok.”
Agen waved happily to the grocer as he made his way down the steps headed for home. It was then Agen learned he would be staying in Heine much longer than planned.
The moment that his feet touched the paved road, Agen was run over by a blur, the pack he had been carrying spilled out over the street.
“Hey, watch where you’re going!” he snapped sitting up.
His eyes moved over the pavement to the spilled sack of food, then to object that had ran him over. A young Human girl, around Agen’s age, with flaming red hair laying face down on the street.
“Karin! What on earth are you doing?” he asked moving toward her.
“A-Agen?” she wheezed.
“Karin…are you ok?”
As she looked up at him, he gasped, seeing the scratches and cuts over her face and torso.
“What on earth have you been doing?!” he cried, reaching for her.
“There were… I went out for a short walk, Dark Elves and Orcs…they’re coming here,” she continued to wheeze.
“No…not here…”
He stood up quickly, scooping Karin off of the pavement. Ignoring the spilled pack of food, he yelled to the grocer to go home, then immediately took off for the inn.
As he entered the door, Serem’s footsteps were heard tromping down the stairs.
“You’re late Ag-” she began.
Seeing Agen in the doorway holding Karin in his arms, her breath caught in her chest.
“What happened?!” she gasped, rushing to his side.
“They’re here, where is my armor?”
Wasting no time, Agen sped up the stairs, laying Karin to rest in his bedroom. Serem trailed behind him, tending to Karin’s wounds.
“It’s in the cupboard,” Serem said half heartedly.
“We have to hurry, no telling how close they are. I’ll gather as many of the others as I can, you come as soon as Karin is settled in.”
“Of course.”
It took Agen nearly seconds to put on his armor, skipping several stairs on the way down. He grabbed Serem’s borrowed Tarbar as he exited the inn and began to gather the able villages to help him defend his new home.
“Everyone, they’re coming! Get out here! The war has come to Heine!” he shouted continuing to each house he passed.
By the time he had reached the gate Karin came in from, he had a small group of fighters with him, Serem bringing up the rear with a few more.
“Agen, are they here?!” she called, fighting her way to his side.
“Not yet. I don’t see them,” he replied coldly.
“Don’t you die out here, you hear me? It took me a lot of time to patch that wound,” she chuckled.
“I better see you standing when their all dead. Don’t make me come looking for you.”
“You bet.”
They fell silent, seeing a mass moving from the Field of Whispers.

‘In the time Agen and Kalina had separated, both began their quest for revenge. Kalina would train in Giran with her new mentor for the better part of two years, while Agen fought what seemed to be a loosing battle in Heine to keep his new found friends safe. Soon there would be nothing left of his temporary home and he would be forced to leave…’

“Amunet, over here,” Kalina called softly.
“What is it?”
“Bring me something to eat, please.”
Kalina found herself cowering behind a suit of armor in the guild hall, Amunet just on the other side of the wall, around the corner.
“I can’t, you know that. If he finds you eating anything other than what he’s instructed-”
“What’s going on here?!” came Kalina’s trainer’s voice.
“N-nothing! I was just, polishing the armor,” Kalina squeaked, poking her head out from behind the armor.
“I see…and what is she doing here?”
He reached around the corner, retrieving a disgruntled looking Amunet.
“Get your paws off of me!” she snapped.
“I’ve told you time and time again Kalina, she can’t be in here,” he sighed.
“…she wasn’t in here, Calor.”
“Close enough! You were trying to sneak food in again weren’t you?” he gasped.
“N-no!”
“What will I do with you? You want to learn, but you can’t eat properly? Those sweets they sell in town will only hurt you Kalina! I want the best for you.”
“You want to starve me!”
“Not true, when you came to me, you were a little overweight.”
Kalina’s eye nearly sparked with fire, glaring at him.
“WHAT?!” she yelled.
Amunet backed out of the Guild Hall slowly, finding it time to run rather than get caught in the middle of one of their fights. Some time later Kalina stormed out, Calor following behind her with a large bump on the side of his head.
“You had better think it over Kalina! Those sweets will kill you!” he called.
“I’m going to kill you!” she shouted back.
Amunet couldn’t help but laugh. They had an argument at least once a day over Kalina’s diet. Even though she never looked as if she gained or lost a single pound since Amunet had met her, Calor thought she could lose some weight to make up for the heavy bow she now carried. In the two years they had resided in Giran, Kalina grew extremely well into a strong fighter. Amunet even underwent more training into being an Elder.
Kalina had taken to wearing a better set of armor Calor suggested she buy. Though Kalina despised it. Amunet had agreed with her, the white and orange pattern of the Theca did nothing for Kalina’s figure. But against Amunet’s suggestion, Kalina refused to wear the Doom Agen had bought for her in Gludio until she was sure she was ready. But she did like the new bow Calor had lent her. Even though it was a bit more heavy than her mothers bow, it was considerably more powerful.
“Hey Amunet, Kalina, wait up!” a familiar voice called.
As the stopped, turning to see who had called for them, Kalina groaned, seeing it was the human female she had attacked in the town square two years ago. Several times since Kalina had tackled her, the human girl took to following Kalina around. Come to find out, her name Annette and she was overly interested in what Kalina and Amunet were trying to do.
“Afternoon Annette,” Kalina sighed.
“Afternoon. Another eventful training session with Calor?” she chuckled.
“As eventful as ever.”
“He has always been a little off, but he means well.”
“I’m sure.”
They both fell silent, looking around aimlessly.
“So…when do you start out again?” Annette asked timidly.
“What do you mean?” Kalina asked.
“I overheard you telling Calor you’re leaving.”
“Next week sometime. I still have some things to get for the trip.”
Amunet looked up from the ground in surprise.
“It’s time?! She gasped.
“Yes. It’s gotten worse. I hear Heine has completely been taken over. It was always secluded from the war.”
“You think they might come here next?” Annette asked.
“It’s too big a city that’s been peaceful for too long. I’d bet everything I have that they’re coming here next.”
“Well… I’m glad you’re leaving! You’ve over stayed your welcome,” Annette snapped half heartedly.
Kalina smiled softly, understanding her feelings.
“Yeah, it was nice while it lasted,” Kalina said, turning to leave.
Amunet followed behind Kalina both timid and excited. She had no idea the time for them to leave was so soon.
“Kalina?” she said quietly.
“Yes?”
“I’m glad you’ve decided to keep me with you. I know it may not seem like it, but I really am on your side. Agen was a better person than I gave him credit for. He didn’t deserve to die.”
Hearing Agen’s name for the first time in two years, Kalina took a moment trying to force back painful memories.
“I know Amunet. I’m happy to have you here,” Kalina smiled.
“What things do you still need to get? I thought you had everything?”
“Just a few small things. No need to worry. I’ll have them by the end of the week.”
Since they had began their training, Amunet and Kalina had grown closed together. Working jobs like the rest of the villagers between training sessions. Over two years they had saved up a great deal more adena, leaving it in their guild bank. That night as Amunet slept, Kalina searched the city shops for the things she need to leave. Which would prove more difficult than she imagined.

The day they had intended to leave, Kalina and Amunet found that their careful planning and packing proved useless in the face of anticipation. Amunet couldn’t find half of the items she had acquired since coming to Giran and Kalina had managed to misplace her quiver.
“Kalina…have you seen my Mithril?” Amunet asked.
She stood before Kalina in her simple cotton sleepwear, looking very worried.
“Oh, it’s in the cabinet…”
“What’s it doing back in there? I swore I sat it out when I woke up.”
As Amunet opened the cabinet however, her yellow Mithril robes that she had been so use to wearing were missing. In their place hung a beautiful set of robes of white, tan and gray.
“K-Kalina…are these… They’re Avadon?!” she stammered.
“Oh, yeah. The Mithril looked so worn down and tattered. You deserved something new. After all, you need something with a little more to it,”
“But the enchantments alone on this armor are too expensive! How did you manage?!”
“With a little of the money from Agen and…selling some of my old things.”
“What do you mean? Your mother and fathers things?! You cherished those!”
“There is a time to let the dead go Amunet. Now is that time. If we’re going to be successful in what we’re doing, we have to move on. My old weapons, as cherished as they were, weren’t strong enough to get us through this. Put it on, you’ve earned it.”
“Thank you. It’s beautiful…”
As Amunet left the room to change, Kalina too changed into the armor she was sure she was ready to wear. The short skirt and high waist of the Doom Agen had given her, Kalina felt she looked like a real warrior should look.
“Agen, if you could be here now… You’d make some joke about this skirt and a draft, wouldn’t you?” she asked her reflection of her full length mirror.
Before she had the chance to answer herself, Amunet entered the room again, gleaming in her new armor. The sleeves hung off the shoulders, showing off more of Amunet’s physically amazing figure. The long tail of the stocking giving her a graceful look.
“What do you think?” she asked, smiling brightly.
“I think, all it’s missing is this.”
Kalina reached under their bed, retrieving a long wrapped parcel.
“A new weapon to go with you’re new armor,” Kalina beamed.
Amunet took the parcel anxiously, pulling the brown wrapping off. It reviled a long staff, made of what looked to be metal, a medium sized metal skull fashioned at the top.
“Staff of Evil Spirits. That by far was the most difficult thing to come by. I had to bribe this old Dwarf for it. He didn’t want to part with it for any price,” Kalina sighed.
“I see, and you’ve decided to wear the Doom?”
“It’s time for it. Yes. Agen would have wanted me to.”
“Should we go?”
“Before we attract a crowed yes. I’ve got someone to meet in Hunters village. He says he has some people for our Guild ready to fight.”
“Then we should hurry.”
Hauling their packs over their shoulders, they paid their bill at the inn, trying to sneak out of town as soon as possible before everyone found out they were leaving. It was in her best interest to sneak out of the village unnoticed. Many of the villagers and vendors had become somewhat friends and she didn’t want to cause a scene, but there would be one person she would have to see before they left. Calor…
As the entered the Guild Hall, Kalina searched for her teacher but he was no where to be found.
“Calor!?” she called, moving deeper into the training hall.
“I don’t think he’s here,” Amunet sighed, looking very out of place.
“Of course. Why would he be? He knows I’m leaving and doesn’t want to see me before I go.”
“Well, sometimes it is more painful to say goodbye instead of just letting the person leave.”
“I suppose you’re right. I’ll just have to leave this here for him then.”
Kalina laid the heavy Akat Bow Calor had lent her on the table next to his room, and at that, she left the guild hall for the final time.
“You wont be using a new weapon?” Amunet asked as they made their way out of the Northern gate.
“Not for now. That’s why we have to travel to hunters in the first place. The Dwarf who made my mothers bow is there and he’s asked that I come to see him. Old friend of the family.”
“That’ll be nice-”
“KALINA!” came an ear shattering yell, cutting Amunet off.
Kalina turned slowly to see Annett standing behind them, a mass of villagers behind her.
“Where do you think you’re going?” she called.
“Annett, don’t start please…” Kalina pleaded.
“You didn’t think I was going to let you just walk out of here like that do you?”
“Annett-”
“You’re taking me with you.”
“A-Annett?”
“You’ve got guts. More than I’ve seen in a long time. And for that, I want to help you. This is my Clan…and I’m giving it to you.”
Annett had approached Kalina as she spoke, her hand extended.
“In exchange for what?” Kalina asked, skeptical of Annett’s generosity.
“For taking me along with you for the ride. Each and every one of us have been hurt in this war, and we feel we have to do something about it. We’re all ready to follow you to the death,” Annett said boldly, bowing to Kalina.
Kalina sat her bag on the ground next to Amunet, turning her attention to the several people behind Annett.
“From this moment on, we take the fight to them instead of waiting for death! They’ve taken our homes, killed loved ones…and even betrayed their own kind!” her eyes drifted to Amunet briefly as she spoke, “ We will no longer allow this to happen! If you do not wish to die, I suggest you turn back now.”
At that, she retrieved her bag from Amunet’s side and continued on her path, several new, willing fighters behind her. From that moment on, every step she took with her clan was for Agen.

“Amunet…”
Amunet had strayed away from Agen and Kalina to be alone. She stood outside her guild house, staring up at her aces symbol. The voice that reached her ears was not Agen’s soft voice, but that of a steely cold hearted man. As she looked to her left, she could see another Dark Elf. He stood tall, looming over her, the blacks wings protruding from his shoulders casting dark shadows over Amunet’s face.
“You’re doing very well Amunet. You will be rewarded,” he said blankly, leaning down to place a small kiss on her lips.
Even with her dark complexion a small shade of pink dusted across her cheeks.
“Amunet!? Where are you, we’re leaving!” Agen called.
Amunet’s head whipped around looking for Agen, but with him no where in sight, she turned back to face the Dark Elf only to find him missing as well.
“Shige… When will you stop leaving me like that?” she sighed to herself, turning back into the city.
Agen and Kalina stood nearly dead center of the town, Kalina’s quiver nearly overflowing with arrows and a cross look on her pretty face.
“Scared of the dark forest Elf? I’m sure you’ll be fine. Agen will protect you precious,” Amunet scoffed.
“Give me a good reason Amunet… I’ll make sure you’re the first thing I shoot down out there. If I die in the process, at least I know you’ll be in hell instead of with me,” Kalina jabbed.
A rather evil looked passed over Amunet’s face, but she did not return an insult and instead headed out the East gate leading the way toward the forest. As Agen began to follow her, Kalina made sure to bring up the rear. Her bow loaded and ready to fire should anything attack. The view that they got once they reached the top of the hill wasn’t anything near what Kalina had hoped to see. The vast forest spread out before them was completely dead. Everything was gray and black, without a trace of life in sight.
“It’s…not to late to turn back Agen,” Kalina begged.
“Honestly, what could live in there? We’ll be fine. Lets just hurry and get through. We can’t waste anymore time taking the safe ways,” Agen demanded.
Without even waiting for Kalina to argue, Agen headed down the hill, his pace moving a lot more quickly than Kalina had liked. It seemed he had finally gotten frustrated with the friction between Amunet and Kalina and just wanted to get it over with. She felt almost guilty, but Amunet was not to be trusted. No matter how loyal she was to Agen, she would never trust a Dark Elf.
As they entered the woods, Kalina began to quicken her pace to keep up with Agen, leaving Amunet behind in hopes she’d get lost.
“This place…is a wasteland…” Kalina sighed.
“Yeah,” Agen agreed.
As Kalina looked around, she stopped paying attention to where Agen was headed and before she knew it, she slammed into him, almost poking him with her arrow.
“Wha- Agen?” she asked, looking over his shoulder.
“Look at those…” Agen whispered.
Just ahead there was a tangle of the sinister looking trees they had seen on the poster in town. It was so dense you could hardly make out where it ended.
“No trees like that around here hm?” Kalina asked.
“You’re afraid of a tree? Why not go talk to it?” Amunet asked.
“If they weren’t all dead, I just might have done that,” Kalina sighed annoyed.
“Come on, this place is boring me…” Amunet said, headed off into the trees on her own.
“Amunet, wait! don’t get lost, head in a straight path…” Agen called following her.
“We’re all going to die in here,” Kalina fumed, heading into the mass as well.
She kept a close eye on Agen ahead of her, making sure that he never left her sight. As she crept through the mass of trees, she found it difficult to keep from tripping over the large roots that weren’t completely buried under the soil. She was almost sure that the tree itself could get up and move away without any trouble, seeing as it was more or less sitting on top of the soil instead of being buried in it.
“Agen, I think we should walk around these…Agen?” she called.
Spending more time examining the roots than she should have, Kalina lost sight of Agen and Amunet. A spark of panic hit her, but she remained clam as she sprinted ahead, trying to catch up to them. As she ran deeper into the mass however, she found that thee trees grew more thick, and larger. Some of them even had chains hanging from their branches and almost a perfect set of eyeholes that were so hollow, it made Kalina shiver just looking at them.
“Agen! Agen, please… Amunet?!” she called desperately, but there was no answer.

As Amunet made her way through the trees, she could hear the distant panicked calls of Kalina and a faint smirk passed over her lips. She had lost Agen some time ago and circled back to follow Kalina. Her job was to lure the two of them deep into the woods where they would either die by their surroundings or her Knight would dispose of them. She only had a short time to work. It was only a matter of time before the inhabitants of the woods became irritated with their presence.
“Amunet… They’re here?”
That same steely voice reached her ears and her heart leapt. She turned to see that familiar Dark Elf face and swooned at the sight of him.
“Shige! You came for me?” she said happily.
“I came to kill them. You can take care of yourself…”
“But, but you said… I’d be rewarded.”
“And you were. You’re not dead…”
In one swift motion, he turned from her and disappeared into the trees. Amunet felt a sharp pain in her chest. He didn’t care for her, and somewhere deep down she knew that. Though she tried her best to make him love her. Apparently, he had a one track mind.

“Kalina, Kalina where are you?! Amunet? Anyone!” Agen called, turning in circles.
Once he had lost sight of Amunet in the dark forest, he turned back to find Kalina, only to get himself more lost. He began to take notice of the trees unnatural branch movement and was more than ready to take Kalina’s other path to Giran. But he was already too late for that. He was lost, and wouldn’t dare leaving without Kalina beside him.
“You seem lost…” Shige’s voice echoed.
Agen spun around immediately to see the very same Dark Elf from Gludio that had attacked the child in the square.
“You! Have you done something with Kalina?! Where is Amunet-” Agen’s voice cut off quickly.
Amunet… She had been the one that lead them here with the promise of no danger…and Agen had believed her! He cursed himself under his breath for being such a fool.
“Why look so surprised? I warned you, this was not over, and now you pay for making a fool out of me!” Shige snapped.
Without warning, he drew his sword, swinging at Agen and only just missed his chest. Agen stumbled backward onto the ground, slamming rather hard into a nearby tree. To his surprise, the tree gave way, causing him to fall flat onto his back. Shige didn’t hesitate to attack again, trying to catch Agen while he was defenseless. Agen, whom refused to die, rolled quickly out the way, watching as Shige’s sword sliced through the tree as if it were water. The tree, to Agen’s amazement gave a rather disgusting cry before it crumbled to ashes before his eyes. The trees…were alive! As Agen fought to get to his feet, he drew his sword, in an attempt to defend himself, though he knew if he couldn’t run from Shige, he would die easily.
He dashed through the trees, careful not to bump into anything as he ran. He looked around desperately for any sign of Kalina. She could have died…and it was his fault. What if Shige had already found her? What if Amunet had trapped her somewhere and allowed Shige to murder her? He ran, blinded by tears, and as he tuned a sharp corner, he came to painful halt.
As he had turned the corner, Shige stood, his sword drawn and pointed directly at Agen’s chest. As Agen felt the sword pierce his armor he swore he could hear Kalina’s voice, calling to him.
“Never…make a fool of me Human. When I find her, she will suffer not only a slow death, but the pain of knowing you were killed.” Shige laughed, pushing Agen off of his sword into the small stream behind them. As Agen fell backward into the dark water, his cap, having been cut lose by Shige’s sword fell to the ground at Shige’s feet, covered in blood.
“This will be a suiting parting gift for your woman…” Shige chuckled, snatching the blood covered cap from the ground and set off to find Kalina.

Kalina continued her journey forward, deeper into the woods against her better judgment. She knew that Amunet was to blame, but she couldn’t leave without Agen.
“Agen?! Where are you?!” she called again.
“I’m afraid he wont be able to make it…” Shige’s cold voice sighed, breaking the silence.
As she looked up from the ground she could see the very familiar Dark Elf, Agen’s cloak held in his hand.
“I’m sorry to say he was as worthless an opponent as a child.”
“A-Agen…”
Kalina felt a sharp pain shoot through her chest as Shige let Agen’s blood stained cloak fall to his feet.
“I’ll let you live. Suffer, and mourn the death of your companion. Oh… and tell Amunet she did well. She’ll be glad to hear it.”
As Shige turned to leave, Kalina drew back her bow in anger and shot at Shige’s back. The arrow lodged itself in his armor, but failed to pierce the skin. He pulled the arrow from his armor with little effort and laughed as he let it fall to the ground.
“Don’t be stupid. You couldn’t hurt me if you tried,” he laughed.
“I wont let you get away with this!”
“Oh, don’t worry. You wont make it out of this forest alive. You’ll soon be reunited with your pathetic Human.”
As he spoke he knocked on the tree next o him then continued on his way out. The tree that he has hit gave a nasty growl before moving from it’s spot toward her. It’s hallow eye holes now glowing red, it’s branches moving like fingers trying to grasp her. In a panic, she drew her bow once again, firing at the creature. The tree didn’t stop as it was struck with the arrow and Kalina found that the other trees around her were beginning to wake.
Deciding it was best to run rather than fight, Kalina sprinted in the direction Shige had gone, scooping Agen’s cloak up from the ground. As she ran she tried to avoid hitting the trees, but it seemed that Shige had waken every tree along the way and several times she felt something sharp tear through her skin. It was almost like their branches were blades. With pain riddling her body not only from her wounds, but from the loss of Agen as well, she found it to be increasingly more difficult to run.
She didn’t dare look back to see if the trees were still following her. It seemed the darkness would never end, but as she nearly tripped over her own feet she noticed there was a break of sun on the path ahead of her. Taking a moment to look at the light, a tree who had managed to keep up with her hit her so forcefully on her back that she flew to the ground and lost grip of her bow. Just as she was sure she would die, laying there on the ground, she could see the tree retreating, hearing the sound of a spell being cast in a familiar voice.
“Get up Elf, we have to get out of here!” Amunet snapped.
“Y-You… You betrayed us!” Kalina yelled, grabbing for her bow wildly.
“Try to kill me later! Or else you’re going to die now.”
Amunet grabbed Kalina around the waist and hoisted her to her feet. Using her free hand, she grabbed Kalina’s bow which was more heavy than she imagined. Nearly having to drag Kalina from the woods, they both collapsed onto the ground once they had reached the other side. Amunet who was rather reluctant, used up most of her energy to heal Kalina’s wounds. All she had to do was wait for Kalina to wake up.

Kalina’s eyes crept open slowly, feeling extremely stiff. She wasn’t sure where she was or how she had gotten there.
“Agen… Agen!” she say upright quickly, feeling a sharp pain in he back.
Amunet looked up at her from the small fire she had started.
“You’re awake…” she sighed.
“You traitor!”
“Hey, don’t blame me. Shige betrayed me, killed Agen and left you to die. You two were planning to come through this forest anyway. Do you honestly think that Shige couldn’t just follow you around or kill you whenever he felt like it?”
“But you lead us to him! You swore to Agen it was safe and because he’s kind, he trusted you! He gave you trust and you killed him!”
“That may be true, but I saved your life when I didn’t have to. If you want to kill me, that’s fine. But it only make you like Shige. And besides, he’s the one you should want to kill, not me. I just heal, I have no power to kill.”
At that, Amunet fell silent staring back into the fire. Kalina greatly considered killing her, but she knew it would amount to nothing. Shige was the one she wanted to kill.
“Don’t expect me to protect you,” Kalina said abruptly.
“What?”
“You’ll stay with me. To compensate for betraying us. We’ll make Agen’s dream come true. And you have no choice but to help me.
“Fine. But if you don’t protect me, how do you suppose I can help you dead?”
“We’ll see how important that is later. As of right now, I could care less.”
Kalina climbed to her feet slowly.
“Where are my things?” she asked.
“There, with his things.”
Amunet sighed pointing to a log next to them. Agen’s blood covered cloak sat atop her things, her bow propped up against the log. She picked up his cloak first looking it over. She threw it over her shoulders examining where it was cut.
“As built as Agen was…it seems he was stabbed directly in the chest,” Kalina sobbed.
“Don’t you think you’re being a tad morbid? Analyzing how he died.”
“I’m figuring out how Agen died so I know how to kill your lover boy.”
“Haha…Shige and I lovers? He’d never give me a second thought. He used me to get to Agen and I’m sure he’d only be interested if the woman were a knight like himself. So his children would be the same thing when they grew up. To him, healers are the ultimate weakness.”
“I’ll never forgive him for this. Agen could have never harmed him, but he had to kill him.”
“Well, I suggest you grow up a lot more. Shige is strong, and archers can’t hurt him. You’ve got a long way to go.”
“Then I suggest we get moving. Gather your things.”
Agen’s death had lit a fire in Kalina that made Amunet almost afraid. Kalina had lost someone that she cared about, even though she never said it. Amunet felt sorry for her, but thought it better to hold her peace.

As they entered the gates of Giran, Amunet was charged with finding lodging for the two of them while Kalina looked around. Kalina had found a slip in Agen’s cloak with the balance of his warehouse. There was as he had said a considerable amount of money in his name. Enough Adena to get them started at least.
“Gather around! We’ve got some nice jobs to hand out today!”
The town square was filled with several other people besides Kalina. They had all gathered around a tall monument in the center, listening to a man waving a list around. Every type of fighter or healer you could imagine all stood in the mass, hoping to get their chance at a job. Kalina was more interested in the mass of people rather than the jobs. Looking over the crowd she saw very many promising individuals. And some more shady looking characters. But she would have to wait before she could begin recruiting.
Amunet had been successful in finding them lodging for the time they’d be inside Giran. A small inn located in one of the many buildings around the center of the village.
“What are we going to do now? Look for more fighters?” Amunet asked as they seated themselves near a wall, watching the commotion in the center of town.
“Somewhat. I hope to do some more training before I begin my search. If I expect to have a strong group and be successful, I have to be strong as well.”
“Then we should visit a Guild Hall.”
“A Guild Hall?”
“God, you really don’t know anything do you? Have you been living under a rock your entire life? A Guild Hall. A place to train your skills. I believe the Humans and Elves are in one place here. Somewhere near the Church.”
“Then take me.”
As they traveled through the mass of people clamoring to get their chance at work, Kalina couldn’t help but notice the several disgusted looks she and Amunet received. Sure enough there were no other Dark Elves in the mass, and certainly no one wanted to be near Amunet. They made way as she moved through them, being sure to avoid any contact with her.
“You, what are you doing in here?!” someone shouted.
Amunet stopped, an almost amused look on her face.
“Excuse me?” she asked nicely.
“Get out! Your kind aren’t welcome here. And take the traitor with you!” a young human from the back of the crowd shouted at them.
She made her was toward the front of the group, a dagger held fast in her hand. She looked, to Kalina, to be very cocky. And defiantly not someone to be messed with.
“I’m no traitor. And she’ll do as she likes. If you’ve got a problem with her being here, you can take it up with me.” Kalina said brazenly.
Several of the onlookers gasped with surprise. Apparently, no one had called the human dagger out like that before.
“Look at you. You’re no where near my level of skill. It would almost be like fighting a child,” the human laughed.
These words cut at Kalina deeply, remembering how Shige had referred to Agen. In one swift motion Kalina sprung at the human girl, pinning her to the ground with her fathers dagger held steadily to her neck, pinning her dagger hand to the ground with her free hand.
“Watch what you say! I may be young, but I am no child!” Kalina nearly growled.
“Get off of me!”
“Leave me and my Clan alone, and you wont have this problem.”
Kanlina removed both her hand and dagger from the human girl, standing up slowly. Amunet watch, shocked, as she offered her hand to help the girl off the ground. Not only had Kalina tackled a fighter of much more experience than herself, she had referred to herself and Amunet as a “Clan”. Amunet took a step forward, placing her hand on Kalina’s shoulder.
“We should just go…” Amunet whispered.
“Who do you think you are?” the human snapped.
“No one special. But I’m not going to sit here and ignore the world around me. If any of you decide that you’ve had enough of their tyranny, come and see me.”
Kalina withdrew herself from the crowd, Amunet close behind her.
“What on earth where you thinking attacking her like that!? That entire crowd could have tried to kill you!” Amunet squeaked.
“I could have cared less. They should have some respect, it’s not like you were causing any trouble.”
“I thought you weren’t going to protect me?”
“Would you have rather I let them talk to you like that?”
“N-no.”
“And we’re stuck together from here on out. Whether I like you or not, you’re the only person I have now. Two people in a Clan, planning to put an end to this war. Pretty sad hm?”
“Not really. Very few people have the nerve to start a Clan at all. It’s hard work, and dangerous. What you and Agen were doing…it was a lot more brave than I could have ever been.”
“Bravery has nothing to do with it. I didn’t want to see my village torn apart, and now for Agen’s dream as well. It’s more that I feel an obligation. I’m scared out of my mind.”
Amunet fell silent, pointing Kalina in the direction of her Guild Hall.
“There you are. I’ll wait out here,” she sighed.
“Afraid?”
“I’m not welcome, just leave it at that.”
Kalina shrugged, leaving Amunet outside the Guild Hall alone. A high vaulted archway, lead Kalina into a surprisingly small room that reminded her very much of the Church in Gludio.
“Can I help you?” a scratchy voice sounded, echoing off the bare walls.
The voice was issued from another elf. He stood taller than she was, naturally, but looked much more cross.
“I’m here to train,” Kalina said plainly.
“Really? What else would you be here for?”
“You tell me.”
He looked her over for a moment, hanging his head.
“You barely look capable of carrying that weapon, let alone know how to use it,” he scoffed, pointing at her bow.
“I assure you I know very well how to use it. Is it your job to teach or mock people?”
“Haha! Feisty little thing aren’t we? Well, if you must learn, know now it wont be an easy task.”
“What in life is?”
He narrowed his eyes at her, showing the wisdom of his years, he spoke softly.
“Is he that important to you?” he asked.
“What?” Kalina said sharply.
“You’re doing this because you’ve been hurt, am I wrong?”
“Why I’m doing should be none of your concern.”
“Well, if you don’t have a good reason for becoming better than you are, there is no point in wasting time just so you can squander it. You want to learn, there had better be a good reason behind it.”
Kalina sighed heavily. She hadn’t wanted to explain herself or reasons for what she was doing to anyone, but if it meant he would train her, she’d have to.
“They killed him, and I want to avenge him,” she said in a low tone.
“Very well then… Come back tomorrow at sunrise and we’ll begin. Make sure to get rest.”
At that, he swooped out of the room into a small door behind him almost as if he had wings attached to his feet. She had hoped to being as soon as possible, but assumed he would have preparations to make. As she exited the Guild Hall, Amunet arose from her seat on the ground, looking over her.
“That was fast,” she chuckled.
“I start tomorrow at sunrise.”

‘Never…make a fool of me Human. When I find her, she will suffer not only a slow death, but the pain of knowing you were killed,’
“Is he dead?”
“Does it look like it?! Move out of the way Karin, he needs room!”
“K-a-Kalin-a?”
Agen’s voice barely echoed in his chest, feeling a sharp pain in what he believed was his heart, he fought to breath.
“See, he is alive!”
Hearing the sound of the young girl’s voice, he immediately thought of Kalina, his hand reaching outward toward the voice.
“Ka-lina…” he wheezed.
“I’m Serem. Who is this Kalina?” her voice sounded in his ears again.
“Serem? Am I dead…? Are you an angel?”
“No silly! You’re very much alive. We found you several miles South of the Canyon half dead.”
Agen forced his eye’s open, seeing the blurred image of the young girl hovering over him. She looked no older than ten, with bright orange hair and leering emerald eyes.
“Where am I?” he asked, trying to sit up.
“You’re in Heine. Don’t move around! You’ll tear the bandaging!”
As his vision became clearer, he could make out another girl towering over Serem and himself. She had orange hair just like the little girl, and assuming she was the girls mother, he smiled.
“It’s very kind of you and your daughter to care for me, but I need to find Kalina,” he sighed, forcing himself to sit up.
“Daughter? HAHA! I assure you I’m much older than the two of you!” Serem giggled.
“What?”
“I’m a dwarf! I’m probably twice your age!”
He looked her over once more, thinking that maybe his eyes had been playing tricks on him, but sure enough, she was the size of a young child, bearing a large hammer on her back. The trade mark of the Dwarves.
“I’m sorry, I’ve never seen your kind.” Agen said in a daze.
“Oh, it’s alright. Very few of us leave the mines. We like our privacy. Now, let’s get you something to eat! Karin, will you do us the pleasure?” Serem asked kindly.
“Sure thing!”
Karin was indeed taller than Serem, but her mannerisms were far more childish. As he looked around, taking in his surroundings, he found himself in a comfortable bed, overlooking the stoned walkways of the town below them. They were most likely in a inn.
“So, what happened to you? That wound was pretty bad!” Serem asked.
“Dark…Elf.”
“Ah, nasty business. We don’t ever see them down here. Heine’s pretty secluded.”
“I have to go to Giran.”
“In all due time. You need to get your strength back first. It’s going to take some time for you to heal properly.”
“You don’t understand, he’s going to kill her, I have to go.”
Serem looked at him grimly. Karin stood only a few feet away looking down at the tray of food she had prepared.
“What?” Agen asked.
“I’m sorry to tell you, but you’ve been here unconscious for some time now. If…if she was in danger, there’s nothing you can do to help her now.”
He could feel a wave of sharp pains crossing his chest where Shige’s blade had pierced him. Kalina had surely been killed, and here he was, laying in luxury, being served food.
“I have to go as soon as possible,” he said coldly.
“Eat and rest some more first, we’ll get you back on your feet. I promise you that.”
Feeling no strength in his body to disobey Serem, Agen allowed himself to be tended to. Over the next few weeks, he would fight to get stronger, having little on his mind, but the want of revenge for Kalina’s death.

“AAAAgen!” Serem called from the room below.
Agen had been with Serem and Karin for nearly three months, living in a vacant room of their inn. They had taken care of him and nursed him back to heath, while he in returned, helped them repair and run the inn. Some days he would spend training, trying to regain the strength he had lost healing. They had leant him one of Serem’s spare axes, finding his warehouse account had been cleaned out. He assumed that when Shige took his cloak he had cleaned out his adena along with the rest of his assets.
Agen had been summoned to breakfast with the two girls, as usual. Karin was always very hyper in the early mornings, while Serem spent most of her time trying to keep her from tearing the house down. Agen sat, watching them happily. It was as if Heine had never been touched by the war. Life went on in a normal fashion where people didn’t have to live in fear.
“Agen, I need for you to get these things from the grocer for me today if you wouldn’t mind?” Serem asked, tearing through the room after Karin, tossing a sheet or paper at him.
“Sure,” he chuckled, fighting to catch the list before it landed in his drink.
Part of him had wanted to leave Heine the moment his strength returned, but he knew that he would have to train a great deal more if he were to avenge Kalina. Shige was powerful, there was no other way around that. Agen had to hope that in the time Agen trained, Shige grew weaker. The moment Agen had regained the strength to walk again, he attempted to leave Heine and the girls who took care of him. He had packed what little of his things Serem and Karin had found with him near the Canyon, and the weapon Serem had given him, prepared to hunt down Shige. But as he stood in the doorway, looking out over their city of water, he knew he wasn’t ready. Not only did he need to become more than what he was, Serem and Karin needed him as well. They had saved his life and he couldn’t bring himself to leave them.

No sooner than Kalina and Agen prepared for travel again, everyone else from the village were flocking out the west gate.
“Time to go,” Kalina sighed.
“Yep. Let’s hope the road isn’t too dangerous…”
He smiled brightly at her.
“Why do I have a feeling that you don’t mean that?” she asked.
“What? Don’t you want some adventure?”
“Not if it includes people dying.”
“There’s a camp along the ay. It may cause some trouble to pass it.”
“A camp?”
“Yes. It was abandoned by some gang of hunters and a pack of Ol Mahums took it over. So it’s a little dangerous.”
“Monsters…have control of it.”
“Yes. And they can be quite deadly. If they catch us.”
“The we should take another route.”
“The only other path is far worse. Undead.”
“Un-dead?”
“Yeah. We’re better off fighting the monsters that we can kill.”

As the towns people walked along a few of the older fighters stood on the outer ring. Watching for monsters and Dark Elves, Kalina and Agen were elected to walk ahead of the mass, since in all honesty, it was their fault they had to leave their home. Kalina wasn’t too pleased with the entire town being upset with her. She saved that child’s life and there was nothing that could have made her stand there and watch him die.

“There it is. The camp.” Agen whispered.
They had found a small ledge, overlooking the camp. It seemed to go on for miles. Large dog looking monsters walked about the camp on hind legs, carrying bows and swords.
“There are so many of them,” Kalina said in awe.
“Yeah. This’ll be tricky. Let’s go tell the villagers.”
On the very short climb to the road, Kalina stumbled over a rock and sent it flying to the ground with a rather loud thud.
She looked up immediately to the camp, her breath caught in her chest. Agen stood as still as possible. Maybe they hadn’t head it.
“Alright…I think we’re ok. Go down slowly,” Agen said in a low voice.
Once they were both safely on the ground Kalina let out a fight of relief.
“That was close. You’d think for dogs their hearing would be-”
Just as their feet were comfortably back on the path, Agen saw one of them that HAD heard them. It cam staggering out of the gate, sword drawn. Letting out a loud howl, it turned to let the rest of the camp know.
“Kalina!” Agen shouted, pointing at it.
In one fluid motion she drew and arrow and turned on her heal, firing it into the monsters back. Watching as it fell to the ground dead, they weren’t quite sure what to do now.
“Quickly! We have to warn the villagers!” Agen said taking off back down the path the way they had came.
As Kalina quickly pulled ahead of him, he laughed.
“Look at…you!” he panted.
“What about me?”
“You’re fast!”
“Of course I am. I’m an archer. I have to be able to run fast!”
By that time she had pulled a great length ahead of him, reaching the villagers on the path first.
“What?” one of the villagers asked.
“Quickly! We have to get off the road!” she panted.
Agen’s friend from the village pushed his way out of the crowd just as Agen came to a halt behind Kalina.
“What’s going on Agen?” he asked.
“Ol…Mahums…spotted us…they’re coming,” he breathed.
“Everyone off the path! NOW!” the man shouted.
In a frantic scramble the villagers filed off the road. Hiding themselves well in the trees, a few archers posted themselves in the branches, ready to defend if necessary. Kalina was one in the trees, keeping a sharp eye out for the monsters.
“Everyone steady! If we can avoid a fight, the better!” Agen called out.
Silence fell over them as they waited for signs of the creatures. For a long while there was nothing. Everyone sat quietly, their bodies tense.
The distant sound of footsteps and howls reached Kalina’s ears. Her Elven hearing more heightened than the humans.
“Here’ they come! Be ready!” she warned.
The archers readied their bows, as did Kalina. Agen stood on the ground below, ready to guard a group of women and children. Not soon after Kalina announced they were on their way did the mass of Ol Mahums gather on the pathway where they had been standing just moments before. They searched around sniffing at the ground and growling to each other.
The boy in the tree next to Kalina was younger than she was. His hand was shaking so violently that the arrow was about to release it’s self.
“Steady now,” Kalina whispered.
But no sooner did the words make it out of her mouth did he release the arrow. It flew well over the Ol Mahums heads, but low enough for them to notice it.
Within moments Kalina, Agen and several other villagers sprung into action. As if it were their cue to attack the villages that were able to defend jumped to attack. The archers picking off the Ol Mahums one by one. And of course their archers fired arrows off one by one into the trees, trying to hit anyone at all. The beasts were powerful but lacked organization.
“Quickly! Take down as many of them as you can as fast as you can!” Agen called fighting off a group of them all at once.
At first it seemed that things were going well. The Ol Mahums were falling quickly. It wasn’t until a second wave of them appeared that things started to get bad.
“Agen!” Kalina called from her tree, “There are more on the way! We have to get these people out of here!”
“Right!” he called back.
After pushing the last few back, he tuned to the villagers.
“Archers lead down the path, kill everything you see with fur! Villagers follow behind the rest of us, shields over your heads to block the arrows! We have to move NOW!” he commanded.
Within seconds archers jumped down from the trees, forming a line in front of the villagers. The warriors formed a semi-circle around the villagers, using their shields as a sort of roof to protect them.
“Move swiftly, but do not rush. They’re smarter than they look!” Agen called as they started off.

As the mass of villagers marched down the path the archers in front picked off the Mahums one by one clearing the way.
“Kalina, watch out!” Agen shouted.
Several Mahums emerged from the woods to her left firing arrows left and right. Someone from behind Agen stumbled into him nearly pushing him down. When he was able to regain his balance Kalina was no longer in sight.
“Kalina?!” he shouted.
“I’m here! Keep going!” she called back.
He caught sight of her to his left, an arrow lodged in her shoulder.
“She’s wounded,” he thought.
Despite the arrow she continued to fight. It was as if she didn’t notice it at all.
“Agen, if this keeps up we wont have any arrows left!” she called.
“Take out the archers and let the rest come to us! Swords drawn, Every able fighter to the front!” Agen demanded.
Like a drill they had ran a thousand times over, all the fighters worked their way to the front of the mass, leaving spare shields with the villagers. Kalina pulled farther back trying not to strain her injured shoulder any further. Standing with Agen she shot down each archer within her range. Agen found himself fighting to keep his balance, trampling over dead bodies of the monsters.
“There Agen! Is that the village?” Kalina asked.
Just as ahead in the ridge they could see the gates.
“There it is! Gludin straight ahead!” Agen called.
Picking up speed they rushed for the gates. The number of Mahums left were diminished greatly. The guards ushered them in, finishing off the last few stragglers.
“All wounded we’ll take over here. Any able archers go with these guards to patrol the walls. Make sure there are none left,” the head guard commanded.
“Kalina, you should go have your shoulder treated,” Agen advised.
“I’ll be fine. There are far worse than me. I’m needed on the walls.”
She seized the arrow in her shoulder and pulled hard. Ripping it out she let it fall to the ground.
“Kalina!” Agen gasped.
“Look…I can take care of myself. And so can you. Go help the people that need it.”
She tied a quick bandage across her shoulder and headed odd with the guards.

By nightfall the perimeter of the village was secured and the wounded has all been treated. Agen sat in the village square with Kalina silently watching the people roam around.
“Are you angry with me?” Kalina asked.
“Hm? No. Why should I be? It’s your life. Do with it what you will.”
“You are angry.”
“Not angry. Just concerned for your health. It could have really messed up your shoulder.”
“I see. Then I would have been no good to you. An archer with a messed up shoulder.”
“No! You keep twisting my words around!”
He stood up and stormed off. His cape billowing behind him.
“Ma’am, they’ve put up lodging just over there for the Gludio villagers. Better grab a bed while you can,” a guard that was passing by informed her.
“Thanks.”
She was lucky enough to find an empty tent with one other bed. Just as she had settled in and was getting ready to sleep, Agen popped his head in.
“Any room-” he began, then seeing it was her, quickly turned to leave.
“Agen! Don’t be like that. You wont find another place this late. Just go to bed if you don’t want to talk to me.”
He sighed heavily, forcing his way back into the tent. He laid down on the makeshift bed facing away from her.
She sighed, rolling over.
“Goodnight then,” she said.
With no response she closed her eyes waiting for sleep.

That very next morning Kalina woke early. Agen was hanging nearly halfway off of his bed. She couldn’t help but laugh as she left the tent. The town square was filled with people. It seemed like life had resumed as if nothing had happened. People had set up their shops again with many new customers.
“Miss Kalina?”
She turned to her left to see Agen’s old friend. He towered over her with a bright smile on his face.
“Hello,” she said cheerfully.
“How are you this morning? I was told you had been wounded.”
“Ah yes, my shoulder. It’s not serious. My armor took most of the force.”
“Agen seemed pretty upset. By the way he was acting , you’d had your arm chopped off.”
“Well, as you can see,” she laughed waving her arms, “that is not the case.”
“Well at least he cared enough to be so upset hm?”
“I suppose. He was angry at me for going to help once we got here and not having my arm treated.”
“Ah, so that was what he was fuming about? He’ll get over it.”
“I hope so.”
He fell silent, watching her face.
“The ferry will be in soon from the Island. Agen might want to recruit some of the fighters coming over.”
“Should I wake him?”
“It may take his mind off of being upset at you.”
“Or make it worse.”
“I doubt that. A chance for more fighters, he’ll be delighted.”
Kalina looked back at their tent doubtfully but headed back anyway.

Agen had already awoke, fixing his cape around his neck.
“Agen…” she said timidly.
“Hm?”
“Your friend said that the ferry is expected to be in soon. Shouldn’t we go down to the docks?”
“Yeah, I was just about to head down there myself. Just woke up.”
“Alright then. I’ll meet you down there then.”
She stormed out of the tent headed East toward the docks. It seemed to her that he was never going to forgive her. He had completely changed his personality.

She sat at the end of the dock, waiting for Agen. It wasn’t long after the ferry came into view that Agen wandered up onto the dock with her.
“Well, today’s the day!” he said briskly.
“Today’s the day for what?” Kalina asked.
“Today’s the day we get more people! We’ll hopefully triple our numbers. Then we can do some real damage!”
“Will there be that many people on the ship? I mean, from here it looks tiny.”
“Well, of course it does from here, but really it’s quite big. There will be enough.”
Aside from his enthusiasm about the ships passengers, at least he was talking to her again.
“Here we go! Friendly faced and stop everyone with a weapon,” he beamed as the boat sailed into the dock.
One other person wandered up onto the dock as the ship pulled in, looking very anxious in Kalina’s opinion. A human like Agen. As the boat docked and began to slid down the ramp, Agen nearly began to dance in place.
“Agen, you’re going to scare them all awa-”
Kalina’s sentence was cut short by the sight of the ships ONLY passenger.
It was a short fat overgrown cat with a beard.
“W-what…is that?” she stammered.
She could see Agen’s entire body twitch at the sight of the feline.
“That…” Agen breather, “is a-”
“KAT!!!!!” shouted the anxious human that had showed up.
The “Kat” gave a loud purr, drumming down the ramp toward the human. He leapt into the humans arms purring loudly. For some time Kalina was speechless. Had a cat…taken the ferry all on it’s own? She wondered who could be crazy enough to sell him the ticket…
Agen sighed heavily, hanging his head.
“It’s a summon separated from his summoner. Kat the Cat,” he groaned.
“Well at least he’s where he belongs. There’s always Dion hm?” Kalina said trying to be positive.
“Yeah…”
“Come on, we’d better get moving then, while we still have daylight.”
Agen sulked ahead of her back toward the village.
“Now, being that we killed most of those things, we should be able to take that path to Gludio? Then there’s almost a straight shot to Dion!” Kalina beamed consulting her map.
“Yeah…where to after that?”
“Giran. There are two paths…one South and one North. South looks faster but there’s nothing there. No road or anything.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s just a blank spot on the map.”
She held out the map for him to see. Sure enough all that was marked in the space was forest. The road ended just outside of Dion going in and started back up on the other side leading into Giran.
“Well, we’ll just walk through the woods then, can’t be that bad. I mean there was a path just cut in half,” Agen sighed.
“Well…what if my maps like that for a reason? My father and mother made it.”
“So, if there were anything terrible there they would have marked it. You know “Do not enter” or “Death Ahead” or something like that. Right?”
“I suppose…”
“Let’s just get our things and haul it. We need to get some more people in this!”

Once they had gathered their things from their tent they said their goodbyes they headed out the East gate toward Gludio. The pathway back was littered with the bodies of Ol Mahums. Apparently their kind didn’t seem to believe in burying the dead.
“At least they don’t smell too bad right now,” Agen groaned.
“Yeah, but once we get farther down to the ones that gave been dead a little longer…”
“We’ll be through it in no time.”
The “No Time” that Agen explained never seemed to happen. Kalina had to hold her breath for great lengths of time to keep herself from gagging. Even Agen seemed to be having some trouble breathing. Once the fallen bodies began to thin out, Kalina’s heart leapt. They’d be in Gludio soon. Though it was empty, it was better than the smell of rotting flesh.
The skyline of Gludio even seemed sad as they got nearer to the village. The town itself was completely barren. It seemed as if the Dark Elves didn’t even come back to rampage the city like the knight had promised.
“When will it be safe for them to come back here?” Kalina asked.
“I’m not sure. They’ll stay where they are until they think it’s safe enough. Probably send a scout over to make sure the coast is clear and all.”
“It looks so sad here without all the people.”
“Well of course.”
“Come on…let’s get out of here. It’s creepy…”
She sped up her pace considerably, speeding past Agen toward the Eastern gate.
“Wait up, shouldn’t we check the place for some supplies? I mean, we’re going to need some food and stuff, right?” Agen asked.
She stopped hesitantly, looking back at him.
“I guess. But make it quick. Who knows what’s lurking around here…”
As Agen dug around in empty stands and the open shop doors, Kalina stood still and silent in the middle of the square her bow at the ready. Agen returned some time later with an empty canister for water.
“This is all I could find. Everything else has been cleaned out…” he sighed in defeat.
“That’s fine…let’s just go.”
“What? Are you nervous?”
“Yes! The Dark Elves should have taken over this village and burned it to the ground, yet here it still stands. There must be some reason for that Agen. They meant for us to come back here and get killed.”
“But there’s no one here.”
“There’s something here. Though I cannot tell what.”
“Is it making you afraid?”
“Only because I cannot see it.”
“Then let’s go. It’s probably some monster. Maybe a Mahum?”
He lead the way out of the East gate again as if nothing were the matter. But something in the air felt wrong to her. There was a strange scent she couldn’t quite place. No sooner had Agen taken two steps a shrill scream came for behind them, from the gate they had come in.
“Ahh! Help me! Please!!!” called the voice of a female.
As if it were Agen’s cue, he turned on his heel and ran toward the voice. As he turned the corner running into a solid, yet soft wall. Looking up he noticed that what he had run into was not a wall at all, better yet a woman. A Dark Elf woman at that. He had run face first into her chest, causing her to blush, which Kalina was surprised to see being that her complexion was a dark gray.
“Oh, Sir Knight! There’s a monster chasing me! Please, I’m only a lowly oracle…” she whimpered, cuddling him closer.
Kalina could feel…for some odd reason, the blood in her face boil as if she’d suddenly been set a flame. Seeing Agen being nuzzled in the bosom of some other woman…a Dark Elf especially oddly angered her.
And sure enough behind her came a large spider. Much like the ones that lived outside Kalina’s village. With a different coloring, they could have been mistaken for a small carriage rather than a spider. Agen dove around the Dark Elf swinging wildly, trying to impress her, which seemed to work all too easily. As he hacked away at the corpse she would “oh” and “ah” or “how brave!” It was enough to make Kalina sick. And what was worse, when Agen had been satisfied that the monster was chopped to pieces properly, the Dark Elf leaned in to give him a slight kiss on the check.
“My hero!” she nearly cried hugging him.
Kalina’s feet began to move on their own as she stamped out of the East gate away from the scene. She had no intention of ever being that close to Agen but was sure she didn’t want to have to witness someone else doing it either. It was indecent, and with the enemy at that! She may have been…endowed compared to Kalina, but no where near as proper or sophisticated.
“Kalina! Wait up!!” Agen called from behind her.
At first her heart leapt, he had come after her! Though as she turned around she could feel it fall right back to her feet with a thundering crash that shook her insides. He was dragging her along with him! And she had such an innocent look on her face at that! Trying to play helpless.
“Kalina wait!! I have us an Oracle! She’s willing to be our healer,” he beamed.
Kalina turned her nose up at them.
“I didn’t know she was with you…” the dark elf sighed, “maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.”
“Maybe you were right!” Kalina snapped storming off again.
“Kalina! Amunet only wants to help,” Agen pleaded.
“Ah, learned her name have we? And how about her proportions? Got a good feel of those too?!”
For some time Agen looked at her puzzled, honestly not realizing what she had meant. A sly smile forming on Amunet’s lips.
“That’s alright Agen darling. With my heals, all you need is me and we can take out who ever you want with the power you have!” she gleamed.
Kalina could take it no longer, she pulled her bow from her back, arrow loaded and ready to shoot, pointing right at Amunet’s face.
“Ah! What are you doing!” she wailed.
“Kalina!”
“She’s got to be a spy! Why else would a healer be on her own?! She knows very well she can’t keep running from the monsters. She’s with them…” Kalina nearly growled.
“Who?” Amunet said sounding puzzled.
“Don’t you play those games with me! You can’t nuzzle me into liking you. You’re nothing but their poster girl that they send in and lure people back out into the trap.”
Agen stood between them for some time, wondering who he should support. Kalina had been with him longer, though Amunet was only an Oracle, what harm could she do?
“Ok, ok. Let’s at least take her to Dion with us. She can find other people there, if she’s such a problem for you Kalina. Just to Dion. It’s right over that bridge,” Agen suggested.
Kalina was staring down Amunet for some time before she lowered the bow and shot her a nasty look.
“She makes one wrong move, and I might find myself unable to control the path of my arrows,” Kalina hissed marching ahead.
Amunet smiled brightly in triumph, taking Agen’s arm as they followed Kalina toward the bridge. There was something cruel, yet hypnotizing in her smile, something Agen couldn’t pull himself away from. She was the enemy, yet Agen was happy to have her right where she was…

Kalina was determined to stay ahead of them as they walked the short distance to Dion. On the bridge crossing the small creek, Amunet stumbled and cried out for Agen to “save her” from the water. Kalina couldn’t help but thinking that maybe the water might have killed her if it touched her and could only hope such a thing would happen. She could hear the distant sound of Amunet telling Agen how the Light Elf race was a great deal worse in all aspects of battle, and healing for that matter. For some reason, she claimed, they had less drive than the Dark Elves. Agen, thankfully didn’t seem to be immersed in that part of their conversation, and switched the subject to Dion itself as they entered it’s borders.
“Where will you be going after this?” Amunet asked, acting like she was interested.
“Giran. That’s our next step from here. But we’re going to rest up here a bit before we head out… Right Kalina?” Agen called.
“Yeah… I guess. Unless she wants you to go somewhere else!” Kalina snapped, speeding up her pace.
“Agen, why don’t you take me to Giran? I’m a much better catch than her! I mean honestly, look at those scrawny legs! She apparently doesn’t take much pride in her appearance,” Amunet scoffed.
Kalina screeched to a halt turning to face Amunet.
“You know, if you’re so great why did you become some lazy healer? Perhaps you have the time to be prim and proper, but we fighters have responsibilities! I look this way, because I’d rather be a good warrior, not some play girl!”
Agen watched as fire nearly shot out of Amunet’s eyes toward Kalina.
“Well… I happen to like very much the way you look Kalina,” Agen said vaguely.
Kalina looked at him puzzled, blushing, as Amunet nearly fell over from laughter.
“You poor boy! You’ve most defiantly never been around real women before! If you like the way she looks, you can’t hope to find yourself a good partner…” Amunet wheezed between busts of laughter.
“Well, Amunet… You’re skin tone isn’t exactly beautiful. Looks like you’ve baked yourself in the sun. Kalina at least has a nice complexion,” Agen said half wittingly.
“What?!” Amunet nearly growled as it was Kalina’s turn to laugh.
“Look, guys. We really need to just drop the who looks better than whom right now. We have a place to be and we have to get there soon. Lets just calm down and work as a team,” Agen sighed.
“Fine!” Amunet and Kalina snapped in unison.
Agen lead the way this time, heading toward the grocer’s shop. Kalina and Amunet lagged behind, shouting nasty words at each other. Agen on the other hand seemed very vacant about the entire situation. He was more impressed with the weapons and grocery shop located at Dion’s center.
“Wow! This place is way more equipped than Gludio! I wouldn’t be surprised if we found some nice warriors here!” Agen sighed, his eyes gleaming.
Kalina sighed heavily, deciding to ignore Amunet and her attitude. It didn’t seem worth the energy. Instead she began to write a list of supplies they’d been needing to cross an uncharted forest. Amunet took to looking at whatever was “pretty” and kept “ooo-ing” and “ahh-ing” at whatever Agen found interesting.
“Agen, look here…” Kalina called, a poster catching her eye.
“What is it?” he asked joining he, leaving Amunet behind.
On the wall, was a picture of a sinister looking tree with a title that Kalina couldn’t make out.
“What language is that?” she asked.
“I’m not sure. Amunet, you ever seen any writing like this?” Agen asked, pulling her over to the sign.
“No, never… Why?”
“Just wondering. It looks like a warning sign maybe.”
“Warning? About a tree? Don’t be silly. There are trees like that everywhere around my village. The Elf is just seeing things. Lets go look at the weapons Agen.”
“Well wait up Amunet. If it’s something dangerous maybe we should ask…”
“Stop worrying so much. I’ve been through here many times. There’s no trees to worry about.”
She waved her hand at him and took off toward the shop.
“Agen, we should just take the path marked on the map to Giran. It’s not worth the time if we die halfway there,” Kalina begged.
“Don’t worry Kalina, we’ll be through it in no time. We just have to head straight through and not stop to look at anything. We’ll be in Giran before nightfall.”
“I hope you’re right…”
Despite her better judgement, Kalina decided not to argue with him any longer and went off to buy more arrows, seeing as she might need them where they were headed. She didn’t trust Amunet’s word at all, but for Agen… She’d followed him this far, she couldn’t desert him now.
